Jelena Karovic, DMD, PhD

Born in Belgrade, Serbia and raised in Gaborone, Botswana, Dr. Jelena Karovic brings a truly global perspective to the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She began her dental education at Charles University in Prague, where she earned her first DMD degree. Upon returning to Botswana, she served for three years at the main government hospital, working closely alongside the country’s only Oral Surgeon—an experience that ignited her passion for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Determined to further her education, Dr. Karovic went on to earn a second DMD from Boston University and a PhD from the University of Zagreb. She went on to complete her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency a the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, one of the most rigorous training programs in the country.

Dr. Karovic practices a broad scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, focusing on dentoalveolar surgery, including bone grafting and implants under in-office sedation. Her other scope of practice includes facial trauma, reconstruction, benign oral pathology and corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery).

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Karovic recently moved to Pensacola, FL with her husband Omer and their two young boys. She enjoys spending quality time with her family, hiking, traveling, cooking, and walking their dog, Dixie.

Today, Dr. Karovic combines her diverse clinical background and academic excellence with a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
